Brief Description
The Swiss Line Directory is called atlas (see Instructions). Line numbers and part line numbers are listed here with a number that is unique throughout Switzerland (Swiss Line ID – SLNID). The data is based on the concession of individual lines and includes the Swiss line number issued by the FOT (CHLNR). Since 17 March 2025, the transport companies maintain the data independently in atlas.
Access the Data
We offer the data sets in three variants:
- ‘actual-date’: Data sets that are valid on the current day (today).
- ‘full’: all records for all validity periods (past and future).
- Timetable-years: Data sets that apply to the current and upcoming timetable year.
- Lines: https://data.opentransportdata.swiss/dataset/line-v2
- Partial lines: https://data.opentransportdata.swiss/dataset/subline-v2

- The data can also be obtained via API: https://developer.sbb.ch/apis/atlas/information
Functional Description
The concept of the lines in Switzerland is complex and is described in a document Line model (v2.0) (in German only) of the customer information system tasks (SKI) described in detail. It describes the regular lines, scheduling lines, temporary lines and operational lines as well as their different IDs.
Implementation of the SLNID into customer information (timetable data) is currently being implemented and has not yet been fully completed.
