Brief Description
Statistical data are data which can primarily be used to analyse passengers, but which are not relevant in terms of customer information.
Historical data differs from these in that they primarily represent past information.
In addition, we offer an archive of historical data (including timetables and actual data) at https://archive.opentransportdata.swiss/.
Data and interfaces
The most important data and interfaces:
Summarised under the Statistical Data Group: https://data.opentransportdata.swiss/group/historics-statistics
Functional Description
The fare networks (e.g. Alliance SwissPass on public transport) provide st
atistics on their travelcards, such as the GA Travelcard or Half Fare Travelcard, within Switzerland.
We also provide data for analysing passengers boarding and alighting and stations. This is provided by the relevant railway undertaking.
The same requirements also apply to data on the number of trains on the sections of the railway network, i.e. we do not have a complete data set for Switzerland.
Finally, we also provide information about how often a particular mode of transport on a line calls to a stop: Stops at stops.
In addition to Real-time, Event and Forecast Data, we also publish the ‘actual data’. This refers to the journeys actually taken or forecast in relation to the planned journeys (timetable) the day before. In other words, now is real time and later is ‘actual’. It should be noted that certain communication thresholds apply to forecast delays in Swiss public transport (see below).
Explanations of terms
The relevant terms are described in the overviews of timetable data (Timetable data – overview) and master data and metadata (Master Data and Metadata – Overview).
